The overriding philosophy behind tPDG is one of mutual understanding; an almost biblical belief that the ideal society is one where co-operation and kindness is paramount.

“ Marmosets and tamarins are cooperative breeders, meaning that offspring that are capable of reproducing stay with their parents and help raise their siblings. This help primarily involves food sharing and infant carrying. Because these species are  already "primed" to cooperate, Marc Hauser tested cotton-top tamarins (Saguinus oedipus) in a food sharing game to investigate whether the tamarins would preferentially give food to another tamarin that had already donated food (Hauser et al., 2003). This study demonstrated that tamarins will give food to others that have given to them but withhold food from those that do not share.” - Jeff Stevens

This simple yet powerful observation sums up perfectly the basis on which primate society is built (indeed it is not limited to primates but extends well across the animal kingdom), and with it raises interesting discussions based on our own personal observations of parallels with modern living.

We seek to expand these parallels to better understand ourselves and will actively encourage and assist others to do the same.
